So You Want To Buy A Hookah

Great!
But there's a few things you need to think about first before you buy a hookah. What size? A 4 hose hookah? A mini hookah? A Syrian hookah?
We'll guide you through the process so that you can choose exactly the right hookah for you.

When you buy a hookah what size should you get?

Well, for me, there are two sizes to think about when you buy a hookah. These are mini and as big as possible!
A mini hookah is fantastic for those of you who like to take their hookah to friend's houses or just out and about. There advantage is in their portability, and I own one myself which smokes pretty well.
However if you aren't going to be moving your pipe around then the best policy is to go as big as possible. Big pipes hookah smoke better than little ones with cooler, smoother smoke. And they look fantastic.
So you have something that is highly functional and that can double as a display item / conversation piece.
Anything over 25 inches is a pretty decent size.

What style should you get when you buy a hookah?

Well, personally I favor some of the really space age looking modern hookahs. But there is a real range out there.
If you are more into the traditional Bedouin kind of thing then check out some Egyptian or Syrian hookahs. There are some great examples available.
And if you are after portability then of course a mini hookah is the way to go.
It's very subjective and all that really matters is that you are happy when you buy a hookah.

How much should I pay when I buy a hookah?

You should consider it an investment in good times when you buy a hookah. If you are going to be using it a lot then try and get the best pipe you can and don't skimp.
For a good quality pipe complete with essential accessories such as shisha, tongs and charcoal you should be looking at spending anything from $70 to $170 depending on brand, style, size, no. of hoses etc.
A 4 hose hookah, for example, does cost significantly more than a one hose.

Is there anything else I need to consider before I buy a hookah?

Yes there is.
When you buy a hookah try and get as many accessories included as possible, make sure it comes with washable hoses, and if it has more than one hose try and get auto seals on your pipe.
And that's about it. Happy hunting!
